Omerta A DeLuca Family Novel The DeLuca Family Book 1 edition by KA Ware Mitzi Carroll Pummer Romance eBooks

I could not put this book down. It has been a while that a book has captured my attention to where I had to finish the book and sleep wasn't going to hold me back.

Omerta is book one of the Deluca Family written by author KA Ware. This is the story of Carlo Deluca and Mia Caruso. I will say that this is NOT for the faint of heart but as it was told to me when this book was recommended to me... if you like the show Criminal Minds, you will like this book. And I have to say they were NOT wrong.

Mia comes to meet Carlo because Mia's dad was a rat and well, it wasn't a happy meeting to say the least. Mia is a spitfire and at 17 years old she was PISSED (as she should be). There was something about her strength that drew Carlo to her. This is their story (I am so not going to give spoilers).

Mia is BAD ASS and I will be honest a bit of a sociopath, but you know what? In the mafia, ya kinda have to be. I love her loyalty and the deep love that she has for those that were close to her. Ms. Ware had me laughing out loud with some of the antics that she had Mia pull to "seduce" Carlo. Love it, because what woman isn't going to pull that? Also, when she or someone she loved was wrong WATCH OUT. This woman was NOT afraid to do her own dirty work.

Carlo, I really liked him. I never thought I would be pulled to another "Boss" (Valentin you are still my favorite Cartel Boss I promise) But I again, loved the loyalty, ruthlessness, and love that Carlo had in him. He did what needed to be done and was good at it. He was smart, ruthless, hard and was exactly what I would think a modern day mafia boss would be.

These two characters together? HAWT and LETHAL. They got buisness done and made NO excuses for who they were.

The secondary characters in this book were great as well, I really like Angelo and man Frankie is a girl after my heart! I can't wait to continue this series and see where the story goes.

For a debut novel the writing style was fantastic. I felt that the characters were very well developed and had a great depth to them. The raw emotion that this book was able to draw from me was amazing. I read this book literally in a single afternoon/evening. I couldn't put it down to the frustration of my family but you know what? There are NOT many books that I have read lately that have made me just glue myself to my kindle. I felt like I was there experiencing the pain, the anger, the laughter, and MAN those sex scenes! WOW... let's just say I think there was some smoke coming from my kindle.

I highly recommend this book if you are looking for something a little different in way of a love story. There are sweet moments in it but seriously this is a CARTEL book. It is NOT for the faint of heart. Also, there is a HEA and a *slight* cliffhanger but nothing that deters from the story. In fact it sets up the next book Vendetta!

Omerta A DeLuca Family Novel The DeLuca Family Book 1 edition by KA Ware Mitzi Carroll Pummer Romance eBooks Reviews

KA Ware is not a new author to me. I have greatly enjoyed everything I have read by her in the past and wasn't expected to find my open of her writing to change... What I did find out was that I had not nearly given her the credit she is due. A person who can use both there right and left hand equally is called ambidextrous. In reading Omerta, I found that I had shortchanged my working knowledge of KA Ware as an author. Her dexterity in jumping between genre's should be noted and the talent it takes to dominate in both should be pointed out. Her craftiness and skill in switching sub-genre's from those categories I have read by her in the past was genius and unique. I was excited to get my hands on something new and different from the cookie cutter romances. I definitely found that and more when I read Omerta. KA's brand of Mafia romance is no were near the traditional - Her heroine certainly finds prince charming...but that is the extend one can find in commonality amongst other mafic romance. KA Ware's version of this mafia tale tales readers on one twist after another. The plot is genius, layered with intrigue and grit. Also, she takes her time developing a relationship between the H/h that leads to sizzling and intense sexy times.

I read this book from the first page to the last without air because I was captivated by KA's mindf*ckery. Quite honestly, I was shocked by Mia's savagery and yet, I loved that she was intense and tough as nails. I can only image that would be a requirement in her position as the Mafia Princess. I finished the book too soon and wanted to launch into the next book in the DeLuca Family Series but life and my job keep me from being able to do so. Instead, I immediately bought all the available titles so that in my free time I could read them.

I could see areas that KA has strived to improve between this and other books in her lineup. The spelling and formatting errors exit in this book and I have hardly caught another in her later books. Since essentially, I have read her works backwards, starting with her rom-com and Swamp Bottom series, I see what growth she has gained as an author over time. I think getting lost in this book is just want other readers need and I would recommend it highly. Reading Omerta makes me release that KA Ware certainly offers readers a remarkable series with the DeLuca Family and I hope many readers will jump on the bandwagon. You won't be disappointed.
